Never mind the mindless robotic detractors. The sq. km of the area recovered is much less important than Lyman’s strategic value. The real victory here is that the railyards at Lyman were an important logistics node for Russia, and Ukraine had THAT shut down some days back.
Actual control of the city (probably not yet 100% complete) and prisoners to exchange is just icing on the cake.

In my last duty station, while civilian DOD, and working in the “alphabet world”, we had twice a week mens Bible studies.
(These were open and friendly to women, but they almost never came.)
We had a bunch of uniformed and non-uniformed NCO’s and officers, and DOD civilians attending regularly.
All were Believers and true conservatives, and the chaplain was a US Navy CDR who really loved God and knew Scripture, and had a heart for people.
More than once, the topic of “Scott Ritter” came up over the years, as everyone was aware Ritter was a very real traitor (and while treasonous, protected by US leftist politicians behind the scenes), and was a truly dumb/shallow mouthpiece for both Russian (and really China in axis).
The US, Russia, and China have produced a number of more intelligent and careful Russian and Chinese mouthpieces/agents, and double agents over the years.
As well, we literally would replay 2 and 3 minute segments of Ritter just for entertainment, and just to get people in a briefing room laughing. Ritter was a traitor, but repeating absoluty doofus information which was so dumb, we reached out in jest, to see if Russian and Chinese services were laughing as much as we were... and to send a message years ago.
I have listened to Ritter commentary just because it is so hilarious when he is reverbing dumb Russian talking points with such a straight face, while he knows how dumb they are. It is so obvious they have him captured... it’s worse, but more funny than trying to watch “Morning Joe”!
It is actually entertaining on a few levels.
In reality, he should have suffered the penalty of treason long ago. Guess the left and their Uniparty are keeping him around for comic relief, and to gauge how dumber down so called “conservative” and “libertarian” voters are getting.
