“...one isn’t a Democrat: the independent mayor of Springfield, Mo.”
A difference without a distinction. Bernie Sanders isn’t a Democrat, either. Yet he almost beat out Joe Biden for the Democrat Presidential nomination.
Does not mean he is not a D just that he ran as an I.
On the WaPo’s masthead it says: “NEVER TELL THE TRUTH WHEN A LIE WILL SERVE.
“Jacksonville made a big leap in the rankings of Best Places to Live in Florida, moving from 11th place in 2021 to fourth this year. Only Sarasota, Naples and Melbourne finished higher on the Florida list.”
“The metropolitan area's violent crime rate was lower than the national rate in 2020. Its property crime was lower than the national rate.”

These dates also shows us why the education systems in this country went downhill.
“Independent” is code for Democrat, just not as crazy (yet) as the Democrat’s Marxist leaders. No, Trump is correct, all Democrats.
“Dems will stick lock-step to their brethren.”
Like the tools Angus King and Bernie Sanders.
I think that used to be the case most of the time in years past. Nowadays, the GOP has shown how many RINOs there are in the party. For some, the GOP isn’t conservative enough, and has ****ed them off enough to register as an independent. They don’t vote Democrat, but they are SICK AND TIRED of the GOP betrayals, like Liz Cheney, among others.
“Springfield City government is based on the Council/Manager system. By Charter, the City has eight council members who are each elected for a four-year term on a non-partisan basis,...”
All mayors of Springfield, Mo are “Independent” in their service as such. Based on internet searches, the current multi-term mayor seems to be very popular, as well as zealous about privacy. Springfield is part of Greene County, which voted 57.7% to 38% for Trump. The current mayor has been re-elected several times, getting vote percentages in the high 60’s. Springfield is over 88% white. It does seem to have incredibly high crime rates.

Disingenuous article from the Washingtom Post basically saying yes, they are overwhelmingly run by Democrats along with 1 or 2 Independents but because they are urban and less densely white, one would expect more crime, no matter who runs them.
Tell that crap to former Mayor Guiliani who made substantial inroads into cutting crime. Last time I looked Dem Soros DAs and no bail laws which lie at the heart of the massive increase in urban crime are an urban Democrat phenomenon.
