That’s the looming big issue. And people who are insured through the state’s insurer of last resort, Citizens Insurance, don’t realize that they can receive a special assessment equivalent to 40% of their annual premium to fill the claims hole. So even those homeowners not in the affected areas are likely to get a nice surprise in the mail from the state of Florida...”Your annual premium is $5000, so you owe us another $2000.”
