Mitt is nigh invulnerable in Utah because he has the rock solid support of the Mormon hierarchy, collectively and individually. In return, he unlocks for them the vast array of federal favors that a US Senator can deliver. The good ordinary Mormon people of Utah and elsewhere are mostly in thrall to the Mormon bishops. By way of exception, when ordinary Mormons do rebel against the direction of the Mormon leadership, as they eventually did with the late Orrin Hatch, they can make life miserable at times even for Mormon politicians. We can hope that Mitt may have such an experience.
