My first thought when I read this was we were chasing one of Ivan’s subs in the area. I imagine it would be really easy for them to put timed explosives on the pipelines.

Next step is that Putin will announce they have thoroughly investigated the sabotage and found the US to be the perpetrator. (He’s been trying to drag us into the conflict directly since its inception.)

Why would Russia do that when they literally control the flow of the pipeline? If they wanted to cut it off, they could do it with the press of a button.

I don't think Putin is trying to drag us in. He's upping the threat level with this and all the nuclear bloviating coming out of Moscow, but a few days ago Russian diplomats at the UN said something about wanting improved relations and today they mentioned something about nuclear arms talks.

They are trying to get the US and Europe to recognize the annexation of the additional territory they gained from the current war in Ukraine. That's why they are escalating and at the same time making negotiation noises. I don't think it will work.

The US was operating in the region 2 days before the the gas pipes were sabotaged. So no, no Russians. The US is the only country to gain big by this. And, our president, Joe Biden, announced in February that he planned on doing this
