I read that the area where it was done was not a place a sub could reach.
This all seems so ham handed is my point.
First, why go out and say that you’re willing to destroy the pipeline in the first place?
After you do, why would you put military assets over the pipeline for a satellite to photograph?
We’re so much better at this. Reminds me of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Air Force brings in photos of Russian bombers wingtip to wingtip on base runways.

And if you’re actually going to plan this sort of sabotage, why not pick a place you CAN get a sub into?

No one is going to drive a full size sub to an area of 300 foot depth.
They could mini-sub though, right up to a beach.
