For the doctors to use that term, top surgery, with her, they just put it in terms she could understand. I don’t see that as trying to downplay what is really going on.

No, they *are* trying to hide what is going on. They *never* use the clinical terms for the surgeries.
When my children were toddlers, the big thing was to teach them to use the “correct” terms for genitals and breasts.
But they *always* use top surgery and bottom surgery (the latter is not a term to look more like Kim Kardashian!) to downplay what they are really doing. Double masectomy sounds a lot more serious than top surgery. Orchiedectomy and penile inversion sound much more serious than bottom surgery.
Never, ever assume a leftist is mutilating the language for a good reason. Look at everything they do and realize there is always a bad reason for it. Many of course are just going along, but those making the decisions do not have anyone’s good interests at heart except their own agenda’s.
