“Q isn’t a theory, right?”
No but there are thousands of “QAnon theories” out there.
As you say, whoever “Q” is they post “cryptic phrases” that are open to interpretation. The “theories” I’m talking about would be those interpretations.
Of course, this only applies to the current iteration of “Q”. The “original” iteration of Q, on 4chan, posted in a much different format, with very clear predictions that were not cryptic at all or open to multiple interpretations. That changed after the deadline that Q set came and went without any of his predictions coming true. The new format only came later when someone using the name “Q” started posting using a different account on a different website.
So what you call “Qanon” theories are posts by any anonymous poster in a free speech message board, regardless of any affiliation to Q, or republicans, demoncrats, nazis, Jewish people, aliens, lizard people, or anyone else I might have missed.
