That’s just from medication.

Gotta wonder what kind of dose people breathing those vapors are getting and fish and wildlife downstream of the tens of thousands of gallons of water it takes to put out the fire.

No HAZMAT containment rings either.

(From a former NBC NCO and CBRNE response team leader post 9/11 here).

I saw a short vid on local news about a new electric fire truck in Calif. It was only 70% more $$$ than a conventional. Of course that was only initial purchase price, battery replacement is a whole ‘nother cost.

I saw an AC Transit bus burst into flame at its rear end years ago. Faulty carburetor.

How many years ago was that? Transit buses have been diesels since I was a kid (1950s)

Incredible! Zero to a totally involved, extremely hot inferno in just a few seconds. Fortunately, I believe that bus was empty of people. Hope so.

ICE vehicles do not spontaneously combust.

No, it's usually due to mechanical (including severed/worn fuel lines) or electrical system failure. But spontaneous combustion would be unusual. I've seen plenty of ICE vehicle fires in my days.

ICE vehicles still far outweigh EVs for fires per 100,000 vehicles. And hybrids outdo both of them by a significant percentage. For 2018, there were 16,051 total hybrid vehicle fires. This worked out to 3,474.5 per 100,000 hybrids. By far the highest rate of fire. Then ICE vehicles with a total of 199,533 vehicle fires for a rate of 1,529.9 per 100,000. EVs had a total of 52 fires. For a rate of 25.1 per 100,000. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a fan of EVs. I think they're subsidized toys and not worthy of my money. They may have their place, but it's not in my driveway. Or garage.

“By this logic, cars should have been banned before I was old enough to drive just from the Ford Pinto alone. LOL”

Unfortunately a lot of people believed those faked Mother Jones articles.

Just think what would have happened if that fire started while driving down the road with a full load of passengers.

“The Pinto’s record is looking better by the day, relatively speaking.”

Mother Jones lied about the Pinto. We see the same here with the demonization of EV’s.

We don’t have to imagine. It was. All passengers and driver got out.

Pure luck that thing was parked. If that was rolling down the highway it would have been a completely different story.
