As an aside, there really was a Baron Frankenstein. He was Johann Konrad Dippel, the Baron of Frankenstein.

He really did experiment on dead bodies trying reanimate them. He was a brilliant man, and the guy who invented “Prussian Blue” dye used, to this day, to color microscopic samples. But also a complete madman and heretic.
