The Arizona gubernatorial candidate and the Republican attorney general candidate were not going to accept the reporter’s premise.
A huge rhetorical error is to get entangled in your opponent’s fake premise. We all recognize that problem with the hypothetical “when did you stop beating your wife” question, but Republican politicians often find themselves playing defense against a fundamentally flawed question. Kari Lake, however, does not do that. Her response to a reporter’s loaded question about Blacks and police shows how to avoid this rhetorical trap.
Lake, who is running against Katie Dobbs to be governor of California. appeared at a press conference against an Arizona Police Association backdrop. An unseen reporter fired off a loaded question:
Kari, a lot of people of color feel like they are unfairly targeted by police. Are they wrong to feel that way? And regardless of if there’s any merit there, what can you as governor do to improve the perception of police?
Most Republican politicians when asked such a question would have begun a stumbling defense about how most police are good people, but it’s up to everyone to make sure to protect the minority community from bad police, and blah, blah, blah. In other words, they would have accepted the premise while, at the same time, trying to walk away from it. It’s a normal human response, but a bad one if you’re running for office.
Kari Lake doesn’t respond that way. She immediately questioned the reporter’s premise: “A lot of people of color? How many people of color have you talked to about that?”

And it is amazing that Republicans usually fumble these questions. Kari needs to open a school for other republicans.
I’ve been very impressed with her. She will be DeSantis-like.
That’s the fake question Sixty Minutes loves. “Some would say …”. “Some critics of you have noted…”
Now they use bots on Twitter to do the fake narrative (pushed by Media Matters and left wing groups. Remember the journalist/propaganda lists they send out the talking points to.)
The boys build an echo chamber for the liberal narrative.
Then the fake media runs stories. “Slammed.” Their favorite works. “Trump is being slammed by Twitter..•
Slammed? Someone bitching on the net is nothing. Certainly not news. What is Twitter? 90% bot comments.
Like “migrants sue DeSantis” was the headline. Soros-funded liberal group sued American governor for doing what Biden did in the dead of night flying illegals.”
We are the majority. Remember that.
They have to use fake bots. Fake votes. Fake narrative. They do the works of their father - the father of lies.
” ... Republicans usually fumble these questions ... “
I completely agree with you. However, I don’t consider Lake a republican, she’s something much better than that, something much more American than what we’ve come to know as a republican.
Wouldn't matter. It's not a technique that can be taught - it's an attitude that's inherit.
She knows the media and the democrats are the enemy, and she treats them as such.
They are not her buddies - will never be her buddies. They are to be beaten into submission.
Also her experience in the media, she knows all the tricks.
I am holding my breath. I hope you are right.
Most GOPe types were probably marvelous at debate societies. Most MAGA politicians realize we’re not in a debate with a loyal opposition, but in a war with an enemy, and they react accordingly.
Only one way to stop her - the Democrats will have to unleash the Dominion voting machines on her.
??????
Yep, Otto Wels “won” his debate with Hitler in 1933.
Hah Andrea must be editing her own articles. Everyone knows it is Arizona. There are not enough people in California that are smart enough to vote for her.
Odd. Original article says Arizona.
There is one thing about Kari Lake, I can say for a fact.
If the Republicans here do not get behind her and she loses, I will never vote for another Republican as long as I live.
So far the GOPe seem to be distancing themselves from her.
Jan Brewer? Doug Ducey? Martha McSally? Mark Brnovich?
Karin Taylor Robson?
Adolf was actually a very good debater and public speaker, but it was his brown shirts that got him into power, the Gestapo that kept him there, and Goebbels' propaganda machine that molded the public mind. The Democrats know this, hence their BLM/Antifa version of the brown shirts, their use of the FBI/DOJ as Gestapo/Stasi, and of course the MSM as the ministry of propaganda. MAGA politicians understand all this, and fight back accordingly; Trump was the first, but thank God he is not the last.
She is an absolute gem!
Now you got me imagining Kari Lake in a dominatrix outfit...
That is the essence of Trump's approach.
“””Lake, who is running against Katie Dobbs to be governor of California.”””

Kari is great, but she might have some problems being governor of AZ and CA.
