A toddler was found dead inside a car that was stolen after the child's father was shot and killed in Houston on Tuesday, police said.
"We are asking for a lot of things from the public right now," Houston Police Executive Assistant Chief Larry Satterwhite told reporters during a press conference Tuesday night. "First and foremost, to pray for this family. A mother lost her husband and she lost her 2-year-old child today. We are also asking the public's help in identifying the suspect. He is still at large."
The Houston Police Department received a 911 call about a shooting in the area of El Camino Rey Del Rey Street and Chimney Rock Road at around 1:46 p.m. local time on Tuesday. Upon arrival, officers found a 38-year-old man who had been shot to death, according to Satterwhite.
That evening, at approximately 6:36 p.m. local time, a woman called 911 to report her husband and 2-year-old son missing. The information she provided was specific enough that police soon realized the shooting victim was her husband.
"Sadly, it was too late. The chid had passed in the car," he said. "At this time, we don't know why or how or what the cause of death will be. It could be something like heat exhaustion, we just don't know. That will be determined later through autopsy."
Investigators believe the suspect had left the car there, locked up and turned off, with the child in the backseat, according to Satterwhite.
The unidentified suspect, who remains on the loose, is described as a Black man wearing a white t-shirt, black shorts and a black Oakland Raiders cap.
When asked if he had a message for the suspect, Satterwhite said: "Turn yourself in. Turn yourself in now."

Modern technology should easily be able to solve the child deaths from overheating in cars. Motion detectors could easily be installed in cars. If motion is detected with the engine off and doors closed, the car computer could roll the windows down a couple inches. The computer could also start the car periodically and run the air conditioner. Cars can now notify owners by cell text of issues with the car.
I’m generally against burning at the stake. However, this fiend makes a strong argument in favor.
This brought such tears to my eyes. To have a father shot in front of his little child, to have this baby die a horrible death from cooking to death in that car, the callous carjacker not caring enough even to toss him out, and the mother losing both her husband and child...it’s too much. Find this animal, strap him into a junk car, and set it on fire.
How was the mother involved?
She told the police the dad had the child - at least that’s what the story says.
Was it a random crime or was it a ‘drug deal gone wrong’?
No description or photo of the victim yet.
Or whoever identified the cap called in an Oakland Raider’s cap because they didn’t know or recall they moved. They’ll always be the Oakland Raiders to me.
I would say,Drug Deal.
50/50 it was drugs honestly.
But I’ve noticed those who live in ‘diverse’ areas are quick to say that because it creates in them a sense of ‘Well that won’t happen to me because I’m not buying drugs’ rather than admit the truth:
Anyone, any time, anywhere in a ‘diverse area’ has a small chance of being robbed and murdered. There are no safe places. Criminals can drive there.
It’s why I conceal carry. At least go down with a fight.
Per the Houston Chronicle: Person of interest detained in Houston deaths of 2-year-old found in SUV, father shot earlier.
I’d provide a link, but the story is behind a paywall.
He murdered a 2-year-old kid so he should be facing the death penalty.
Soros DA so he’ll probably be let free with no bail so go do it again.
This is the “Curley Effect” - named after a Boston-area politician. Degrade the area to the point all those that may vote against you move away. Profit.
>Old would be a Los Angeles Raiders cap.
Old would be an Oakland hat before they moved to LA
The article says the victim is black as well.
Drug deal gone wrong probably.
I’m thinking maybe impalement.🤔
Moral degeneracy is spreading, and Soros, acting in concert with BLM, has been a big factor in that process.
I have a 61 VW...it does not do any of that crap..And I’m glad it doesn’t
My daughters getting married. Bachelor party planned in New Orleans..as we speak, my son and another planned attendee who is a cop are enroute to talk to her fiancé to cancel the airline tickets and hotel. Trying to convince them to go to Florida keys. In any case neither are going.
In the meantime my daughter and her girl friends are gling to Tennessee. Not Memphis. I keep telling them to be aware of their surroundings, watch everyone. This is the world we live in now.
Suspect arrested.
The Holy Spirit is ending the time of grace. Will get worse and worse from here.
That reminds me of an anecdote told by the the late great William Buckley: he was invited to a dinner party at which the guest of honor, a well known sociologist, made a comment to the effect that if one factored out the crimes committed by blacks and Hispanics, the crime rate in the US would be like that of Luxembourg.
Some researcher was fired for pointing out that if we excluded violent crime from blacks in the US, we would have the violent crime rate lower than Iceland.
