The plastic bottles and bags collected at our our town dump (I dislike the words "transfer station") and those of other towns in our area are recycled at a facility in the town north of us into home heating oil and diesel fuel.
ten percent of our home heating oil is from the recycled plastic.
My boiler has never run so clean, I clean it myself and since the change, there is almost no ash to remove.
Far better than before.
Greenfield is mostly right about solar electricity.
We have heated our hot water mostly with solar for over 40 years, and partially heat the house with it.
If everyone who can would do this, it would make a huge difference in energy usage.
The only practical clean energy is NUCLEAR. We need to be funding development of Thorium fueled reactors, but in doing that the right people wouldn’t make any money.
Read “Shorting the Grid” by Merideth Angwin.
Pretty good article, as expected.
These same people who swallow these "trivial surface impressions" are those who think electricity comes from that receptacle in the wall with the funny holes, and steak comes from a grocery store where it is cleanly birthed into styrofoam trays and covered with cellophane.
And yet the true believers tout their awesomeness by buying EVs. They simply ignore the ugly reality of how that EV gets to them.
This article is amazing.
For me, the money shot is ā¦.. When the flower children grew up into bourgeois suburbanites, holding down jobs at ad agencies and nonprofits
Non-profitsā¦.. nothing but legal money laundering in an industry dominated be the Left.
FTA: where everyone sat around an Apple laptop before getting into their electric cars and going off for a hike.
TV commercials always show people hiking and smiling!
Instead of groaning and sweating...
How many coal-fired power plants are there in the world today?
The EU has 468 - building 27 more... Total of 495
Turkey has 56 - building 93 more... Total 149
South Africa has 79 - building 24 more... Total 103
India has 589 - building 446 more... Total 1035
The Philippines has 19 - building 60 more... Total 79
South Korea has 58 - building 26 more... Total of 84
Japan has 90 - building 45 more... Total 135
China has 2,363 - building 1,171 more... Total = 3,534
Thatās 5,615 projected coal-powered plants in just 8 countries.
USA has 15 - building 0 more...Total = 15
And Democrat politicians with their “green new dealā want to brainwash us and shut down those 15 plants in order to “saveā the planet.
I knew the rough idea about the number of coal plants but had not yet seen actual numbers until now.
This makes the point. Whatever the USA does or doesnāt do wonāt make a Tinkerās Damn regarding CO2 unless the rest of the world, especially China and India reduce their coal-fired power plants as well.
The whole āglobal warmingā and āclimate changeā gambits by Democrats are to create a *supposedly* sound, scientific basis to justify a federal government power-grab and the passage of MORE laws to increase taxes and increased control of the privately-owned power industry and its distribution.
