Is he really a “Meteorologist” or just somebody who reads what another meteorologist tells him to say?
A real research metrologist is an impressive academic endeavor. I think it requires high level math, science etc. often up to PHD level.
I think most TV personalities get more of “operational” meteorology degree at best and usually just sort of a made up title on broadcasting with a few general meteorology courses thrown in.
There are exceptions…
I remember Tom Wills from Louisville Ky, I think he had an actual Research meteorological degree but just got a job in a TV station. His forecasts were often better than the nationally issued one but when he stated he had a terrible screen presence.
Here he is after about a decade of oratory time, when he started he couldn’t get a sentence out without a stutter or start over …but what a great weatherman.

I’d like to sit every TV “meteorologist” down give them weather data and ask them to draw a weather map and predict the next 4 hours. I doubt if many can. I imagine the primary requirement for TV “meteorologist” is looking good on TV!
