Yup. McCarthy is an empty suit. I’d fire his gutless, lazy ass and put replace him with Jim Jordan.
I say that the MAGA Republicans should insist on appointing Donald Trump as speaker of the House! That would keep the cages over at the MSNBC zoo rattling for a few years!
After Republicans lost the House majority in the 2018 midterm elections, and GOP Speaker Paul Ryan left office, Jim Jordan ran against Kevin McCarthy for leadership of the GOP minority in the House. McCarthy won in an overwhelming 159 to 43 vote. McCarthy’s leadership of House Republicans has not been challenged since that vote. There is currently no indication Jordan or any other Republican plans to oppose McCarthy for the speakership if they win the majority.
In March of 2022 Trump stated he does not want to be Speaker of the House if Republicans take the majority in the midterms.
If Republicans capture the House and Senate majority expect to see McCarthy as Speaker and McConnell as majority leader. While conservatives may dominate the GOP voter base, GOP voters consistently send moderates to Congress. Moderates do the bidding of the big donors. They are pragmatic politicians, not partisans driven by conservative ideology.
