Anyone who has seen a lithium battery burn will know what a problem this is.
I poked a hole in a phone battery while trying to replace it and the damned thing went off like a sparkler and just as hot. We had to toss it out the window to prevent a house fire.
I once accidentally shorted out a 7AH, 12V battery like that used for alarm panels and it turned the wire red-hot and melted the insulation right off of it.
Rechargeable batteries of any kind don’t like to be shorted out. They will put out more than enough energy to start a fire!
Understand that when you poked a hole in that battery, you shorted it out.
Some years back, I had an elderly iPhone stored in a cabinet, I pulled it out one day to get a part off it, and the whole thing was blown up like a bloated tick!
