I suggest you read “Federalism, the Supreme Court and the 17th Amendment” by Ralph Rossum. It has an excellent history of the change.
I do not agree with you about the change that abrogation of the Amendment will bring, because you are changing the selection process, but not the philosophies of all the voters who put the legislatures in office. Consider California! QED.
The biggest problem our nation faces now is the marxist media. They control the narrative and all that follows, including education. That’s why I have written three books on the matter - - people just accept the course and never question how far out of line the narrative is with our constitutional form of govt. “The Real Constitution and its real enemies” is on amazon. You can see the details without buying it.
I have read it.. worth the time to read it again.
The media is the third leg of the current dynamic with both parties and large donors/lobbyists being the others...
Yes, our morality changes over time... its how society evolves or devolves..
Having every State Capital involved: the state level reps and state senators along with the Governor was a massive check on the parties, donors... and would completely change the character of who is in the Senate.. the uniparty would not exist in its current format.. zero chance a complete dolt like biden would make it to DC.. Word salad Harris would be even allowed to work at the town recycling center. The likes of McStain, Graham and McConnell ever being in the Senate or Federal government would be reduced significantly.
Our Founding Father’s were not stupid.
