" "If the storm maintains this intensity as forecast, it will make landfall as one of the top five strongest storms to strike western Japan on record," said Robert Speta, a typhoon expert who previously worked as a meteorologist in Japan. He said Nanmadol was the strongest tropical system anywhere on the planet so far this year."
Must be a “far right wing” typhoon. Liberal typhoons are normally peaceful and not “violent”.
To make it worse, it looks like the trajectory takes the typhoon over all the islands. The one piece of good news is that if it slams Nagoya, the basho might be suspended and Terunofuji will avoid makekoshi.
ON RECORD! Shelter in place and ensure your beer and saki are protected. Stoopid climate......
The fall Basho is in Tokyo not Nagoya . Cheers !
I hate it when that happens.
Only the fifth strongest, if that? According Climate change theory tropical storms at record numbers and at record intensities should be plaguing the globe. Instead we have had a very quiet below normal season in both the Atlantic and Pacific basins.
Nanmadol...isn’t that one of those crypto-Atlantis locales? Mysterious archaeological site?
I can’t wait for some more excitement up here in Kanto. The punk gig tonight was great, but I like the fun to continue. I wish we’d get another October, 2019 for some drama.
Punk gig ? Who did you see ? Where ?
