“What happens when the experiments to confirm the hypothesis can’t be performed?”

It is not a test if it can’t be performed. By definition a defined test has to be observable.

That was 9th grade science.

Yes again I know!
I just re-stated a question that the late Noble Prize physicist (and Manhattan Project veteran) posed in regard to modern cosmology. It also fits modern particle physics.
