I'm reminded of that movie about Turkish prisons called
"Midnight Express". A guy got busted for smuggling drugs in Turkey.
If I remember right the prisoner dressed up as a woman to escape.
Griner has that part nailed already so there's some hope. Oh wait. I think the Russians are already on to that ruse.

I saw that movie in Athens, Greece while backpacking thru Europe. While I wasn’t traveling “dangerously” (doing drugs, etc), that movie scared the bejeebus out of me.
Also...great soundtrack.

"Midnight Express" made quite an impact on me when I saw it in the theater back in the late 1970s. Just like "Jaws" made you not want to go in the water, "Midnight Express" made you not want to ever have to go through customs in a foreign airport.
Anyway, I'm thinking the Russians have a lot more on their plate right now to be worrying about some spoiled American drug smuggler in their prison system. This person sure picked a bad time to bring drugs into Russia.

No. The guy(actor Brad Davis) killed the Turkish guard who was about to rape him, stole his uniform(which was just a little too big for him) and walked out of the prison.
