Chess can get caught up in politics. Examples include: Fischer’s match against Spassky, (Soviet defector) Korchnoi’s match against Karpov, Ficher’s return match with Spassky, political influence in the Soviet Union, Alekhine in Germany during World War 2.
Chess players can choose to get caught up with politics. Fischer’s animus towards Jews was embarrassing to say the least. Kasparov has always had a thing against Putin. I sympathize. Kasparov likened Trump to Putin. I object.
Chess geniuses are not universal geniuses. I think the same applies to geniuses in mathematics, physics, or anything else. I reject the idea of universal geniuses.
Evaluate Kasparov’s words on their own merit. Agree or disagree. Please do not pass them off as the ideas of anyone who is a genius about anything than chess.
So you are saying “shut up and Castle”?
Ukraine has requested an operational media blackout and talking heads have to kill time, so I suspect a Mila Kunis interview asking her about her take on the Kharkiv offensive in the next couple days.
