My father graduated from the US Merchant marine Academy at Kings Point just after WW II. He spent years at sea as a merchant marine officer and two years in the US Navy during the Korean War. Even in that era, he found the Navy's seamanship to be weak compared to that of the US merchant vessels he served on.

As the modern woke curriculum indicates, Annapolis graduates Naval officers, while Kings Point graduates mariners. Recently, the Navy even turned to Kings Point for help in restoring celestial navigation courses to Annapolis.

A remedy for the US Navy's weaknesses in seamanship obviously must include purging out wokeness, but more will be required. A good quick solution would be to offer Kings Point graduates a year or so training as naval officers, with rapid career advancement afterwards. This would have to be imposed from above as the US Navy's pride would otherwise forbid such a move.

One big change is that fewer people work in industries relying on boats. The smaller ports are out of business, lucky to have some recreational boats. The amount of shipping on U.S. rivers is a fraction of what it was. The fishing industry has large commercial floating factories that replaced the smaller boats.

With the exception of pleasure cruises, people don't travel by ship (except for commuter ferries).

All that river and ocean work, tugs, manned lighthouses, barges, etc. are a fraction of what they were.

“It may be considered fascist but they’ve justified Robert Heinlein’s proposal to make full citizenship dependent on service. Not doing so has led to this crap.”

I agree 100%.
I love that book and still read it occasionally. Heinlein laid it all out why full citizenship should only be conferred to those who choose to serve.
Unfortunately they turned it into a woke movie that was horrible.

But that Navy is being replaced by the developing liberalnation "Wokelitary," with its list of WOKE capabilities, such as,

The Pentagon Forming a Diversity and Inclusion Office, and

allowing transgenders to serve in the military,

and with the Pentagon even ensuring free gender reassignment surgery for active military personnel,

with Army mandatory training now including training Army personnel to know what to do in such scenarios as when a soldier who was "assigned" a biological gender at birth says he/she identifies as another gender, and lives as such in off-duty hours, but is not requesting to be treated as such while on duty, versus if such later requests to be identified as according to their chosen gender during duty hours, and/or experiences increased distress relating to his/her gender identity;

while apparently as part of the Naval Sea Systems Command Inclusion & Engagement Council’s Diversity Team's video series called “NAVSpEAks,” the Navy posts video on "the importance of using correct pronouns as well as polite etiquette when you may not be sure of someone's pronouns"

and the Air Force being with WOKEism in creating 'LGBTQ' and 'Indigenous Nations Equality' Focus Groups,

and also authorizing the use of gender pronouns in signature blocks,

and hosting a drag show at festival at Joint Base Langley-Eustis (JBLE) on July, 2022, which also includes a poem on “Diversity, Equity and Inclusion,”

while the Army arms itself with a woke recruitment ad featuring lesbians at a gay wedding and an LGBTQ pride march,

and the CIA funds a 'cisgender millennial with anxiety disorder' campaign, and with the

Marines and Navy as well as the Air Force and Army posting messages on social media supporting gay pride and Pride Month,

with the former posting rainbow bullets, and the latter a rainbow colored arm and hand in salute (essentially to the flag of Sodom)

and with the Navy naming a military ship after gay rights leader Harvey Milk, and (now) with a transgender veteran christening it,

along with the Navy's first all gay U.S. Navy helicopter crew,

to lower fitness standards for women

while nearly half of female soldiers are still failing the new Army Fitness Test,

yet calling for Increased Diversity and More Women in Combat,

and changing its song to be gender-neutral,

and Forcing Marines to Make Boot Camp Coed,

and feeding cadets cultural Marxist propaganda about gender and masculinity therein,

to its new diversity and inclusion operation from West Point

and for its Special Operations Command ,

while showing a rapid response readiness to engage in online combat with the likes of Tucker Carson and other such enemies

thus nuking Jesus-themed candies on an Air Force bases

as well as the Pentagon ordering a company to stop making faith-based Dog Tags,

and prohibiting service members from “liking” or reposting "extremist" views on social media (depending on all the circumstances involved) as part of its prohibition against actively engaging in extremist activities,

yet allowing turbans and hijabs in the Air Force,

while working to rid the military of “extremism

such as the head of the US Space Force unit being fired and put under investigation for criticizing Critical Race Theory

And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over our head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens. (Ezra 9:6)

Sadly true in that road, rail, and air have taken over a large part of the marine cargo business. Part of the decline of seafaring life is that it requires extended separations from spouse and children. That led my father to take up a legal career, with some success. If one is smart enough to be a good marine officer, it usually means that one is smart enough for an easier career.

Navy Spectrum

Mission

Spectrum is the Genders and Sexualities Alliance club for the United States Naval Academy.  Following the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" a group of Midshipmen came together to make a historical change.  This is their product, let it grow.

Navy Spectrum ECA is here to create a supportive environment for members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies by increasing visibility within the Brigade and educating people about LGBTQ+ issues. Spectrum also tackles issues including harassment and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. As Spectrum members invite more straight allies into the club, we allow more people to learn firsthand, without judgment, about the LGBTQ experience, including what it means to be gay, bisexual, asexual, agender, or transgender.

Many Spectrum meetings include documentaries and live panels featuring LGBTQ+ service members, which all aim to discuss the LGBTQ+ experience in and out of our military. Spectrum ECA members from the Air Force Academy and West Point Academy also join us on movement orders around the Annapolis area to promote cohesion among our club members. We have a mentorship connection with USNA’s LGBTQ+ alumni club, USNA Out, where many of the current members were in the military before the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell Act was repealed in 2011. Our largest annual event is a dinner party is the Knights Out Gala, held at Westpoint. At this event, Spectrum Clubs members and LGBTQ+ alumni from all the service academies meet for dinner and present awards for long standing LGBTQ+ activists in the military. We also intend to be a part of Annapolis’ local Pride parade next year for the first time!
