#2. From the beginning of the conflict, Russia is considered to have a upper limit of forces they can deploy in Ukraine between 180k to 200k. Their losses are estimated at 48k to 50k. Brtween 10k to 20k are in Izyum, another 20k in Kherson, who are all at risk of being cut off and trapped. I don't think Russia has much left in Ukraine to redeploy.

The Russian military would have to redeploy units from inside Russia, and that means transporting them and supporting them when they arrive. Putin has not ordered a general mobilization, and their recruitment efforts amount to finding cannon fodder to fill body bags. Unless the Russian Army is willing to draw real units from inside Russia, sending their recently recruited forces will just get them killed.

If Russia has a way out I have no idea what it is.

Russia is airlifting elite troops to join the war according to this link.

“From Grozny, soldiers of 2 elite special forces flew out from Grozny to the special operation zone - the “North” regiment and the “South” battalion of the Russian Guard:

If you were Comrade Xi and duly noted the performance of the Russian army what would you be more likely to do? Would you attack a well defended Taiwan across 90 miles of open ocean? Or would you be wondering if all those locally produced ships ,planes and huge army of China, though combat untested, have the ability to seize Russia’s rich, underpopulated Far Eastern Asian Pacific territories and the treasure house of Siberia.

Suspect if Russia did not have nuclear weapons, it would be much smaller.
