TORONTO — Marsha Hunt, one of the last surviving actors from Hollywood’s so-called Golden Age of the 1930s and 1940s who worked with performers ranging from Laurence Olivier to Andy Griffith in a career disrupted for a time by the McCarthy-era blacklist, has died. She was 104.
Hunt, who appeared in more than 100 movies and TV shows, died Wednesday at her home in Sherman Oaks, California, said Roger Memos, the writer-director of the 2015 documentary “Marsha Hunt’s Sweet Adversity.”
A Chicago native, she arrived in Hollywood in 1935 and over the next 15 years appeared in dozens of films, from the Preston Sturges comedy “Easy Living” to the adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” that starred Olivier and Greer Garson.

Did she ever renounce communism?
I don’t know Marsha Hunt, but I do love the 30s and 40s and 50s radio and television shows, especially the thrillers and comedies. Olivia De Haviland was the most recent old-timer to have crossed that mortal threshold. I can’t think of any others that are still around.
Good question.
The Human Comedy comes around on TCM from time to time. It depicts small town life in a rural setting, a life and a time gone by. RIP Marsha. Also in it are Frank Morgan and young Mickey Rooney. Highly recommended.
Sounds like a typical Hollywood airhead affixing herself to every cause that comes down the pike.
So the pattern of three famous deaths has been observed. Gorby, Lizzy and Marsha all croaked in rapid succession.
I saw it once. Did not read the book by Saroyan.
The movie was good. It’s so different than anything made anymore it’s hard to describe. Your word sweet is good. Wholesome. Humane.
No guile. No misanthropy.
She has quite the filmography - working through her 80s right up to 2008, when she was 91.

Oh, it was. There was a meeting where Reagan got the commies in a dither and someone—maybe Olivia DeHaviland—said, “You really smoked them out!” and he replied, “I was afraid you were one of them!”
So, the low IQ, low T media remembers the mid century blacklist, but “I know nothing” for today’s blacklist, eh.
One of N reasons the media has almost as low a respect as does congress, where N is a very large number.
So she lived long enough to see Communists like Bernie Sanders elected-—and re-elected-—by traitors. And to see ALL OF US HERE blacklisted for being patriots.
Test it by speaking out for the Great American Way of Life on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, a school meeting or elsewhere. Doxxed, shadow banned, banned, in social media jail, shamed in email barrage, no loans or job promotions. Lucky to be out of the gulags——for today.
She didn’t survive to 105 ...
For all the (fake) outrage through the years by various ‘actors’, McCarthy was 100% right. I believe he’s been vindicated. Note: I can’t attest to anything else about him except for his hatred of communists and these so-called trials (inquiries).
These guys also make Nixon look like child’s play!!!
It was Olivia. And Olivia replied, “I thought that YOU we’re one of them!” lol

That is so weird. I just was at her IMFB page a few days ago when looking up the oldest living actors.
Not just Communists. They were beholden to the Soviet Union, constantly making excuses for them. They denied the gulags existed even after the evidence came out about them. They operated much like the pro-Nazis in the US before WW2.
