Fear of legal action? Really it’s them that would fear legal action. If and when their kids attacks it is the parents of the victim that sues. Maybe besides just suing the school they need to sue the parent of these kids as well.
“The root cause is that they get no control at home and don’t act any differently when in public.”
Funny you should say that. I’ve notice that parents of autistic children often condone their bad behavior by just saying “well he’s autistic”. Well so what? There are kids with other illnesses who don’t misbehave so why does your kid not behave?
Then when their child is arrested they have hissy fits. I don’t care anymore. Arrest the brat then maybe he will learn to behave in society like a decent person.
NCLB appoints an "advocate" for the disabled kid. I cannot tell you how many parent teacher conferences that I have had where the parent or the advocate imply or outright say they will get a lawyer if we don't do what they want. Some even had a lawyer present during the conference when it was a discipline /expulsion issue.
That also included a case where the kid finally graduated and the parents sued to remove the "special needs" tag from the kids school record (asperger's syndrome)...but, only after they graduated, not while they could reap the benefits while in school. They wanted it removed so he could enlist in the military. That must have been a very short career BTW.
