I know the history well. Oliver Cromwell is a long-reviled figure in Irish history particularly due to his reported mercilessness upon the city of Drogheda when they refused to surrender.
There must have been divine retribution upon the Puritans for the act of regicide, because they were driven out of every other European country they fled to and ended up dying out in the USA. Remember what David did to the unnamed Amalekite who thought he was going to be rewarded for his claim of killing Saul (2 Samuel 1:1-16).
