I’ll have to watch it first. I won’t rate something I haven’t watched, even if it’s for a good cause.
I watched it last night and it was a mixed bag for me. Davi took the contents of the laptop which were just dry business deal documents mixed with porn and crafted a cinematic story using a fictional confession and a dialog between Hunter and Joe in a limo to make his point. He also had several characters like the female Secret Service agent break the fourth wall and provide exposition to the camera. This was similar to the way “The Big Short” got through technical details with funny vignettes.
In film it’s better to show than to tell but they didn’t have the budget to do a mini-series, so they chose to tell. My favorite part was the way they played Joe Biden as the clown, sniffing women’s hair and using stupid malapropisms (quick pro crow for quid pro quo) all while justifying whatever coverups he could concoct for the family influence peddling grift run through his drug and sex addicted son.
Bottom line. 10 stars for courage and imagination in the production. Seven stars for writing. Eight stars for Lawrence Fox’s and Gina Carano’s performance.
