I’ve been to Utah, but I also know it’s been used as the filming location for Sci-Fi movies because its deserts look like what we imagine other planets would look like.
“Footloose” was filmed in my hometown and surrounds. I know of a LOT of Westerns that were filmed in Utah, but not too many Sci-Fi. And just at the moment, I can’t think of any place that would look like Mars. Maybe around Moab, but that’s where John Wayne and Susan Hayward got cancer when they filmed “The Conqueror.”
