I flew to Cleveland on 911. Got off the plane and everyone in the terminal was watching the television above of the burning tower. I saw the second plane hit and then decided I really need to secure my rental car asap. I was freaking out driving from the airport while listening the news reports that the Pentagon had been hit. I think I was very close to having a panic attack. Such a jolt that day was.
Field people were in my office at home base near NYC as we watched the morning of 911 unravel. They drove their rental cars all the way home, to be with their families. I remember saying to the field team manager “Get the hell outta here”.
Hubby waited at one of the tri-State hospitals for incoming wounded. Nobody came.
