Costco customers spend more per year on grovery items than do bargain/sale conscious super market customers, and bargain/sale conscious super market pay no annual fee to the supermarkets they patronize, which are often more than one.
I have never found an electronics or appliance “bargain” at Costco that was not beat somewhere else.
A big screen TV comes with 2 year warranty from Costco. Who beats that for the price?
I hate any kind of membership shopping establishment.
It kind of prepays the possible discount. It forces one to keep buying there, just to get their money worth.
In particular, Costco forces one to buy huge package, often one ends up throwing away most of the stuff.
Guest visiting Costco, I bought there some chicken salat.
We ate it for a week! I still remember the horror of Costco chicken salat

I bought my last few TV’s at Costco. Lowest price available, free delivery and setup and a five year warranty.
NOBODY could beat it.
Exactly right. Snob appeal.
My friend. has a Costco membership and I go with her occasionally.. Only things I want there are Alaskan Salmon burgers, frozen organic strawberries and occasionally blueberries. They used to be the one source for Gloria Vanderbilt jeans, which fit me perfectly, but Gloria died and there are no more jeans.
I found organic frozen strawberries at our really wonderful and cheap Grocery Outlet, just as good an even less money.
