Autologous blood transfusion where you donate your own blood prior to surgery and then if needed during surgery you receive your own cells back went out of vogue a while ago. We have learned that over transfusion is dangerous and all the literature points towards a restrictive blood use strategy.

There is some trials relooking at autologous transfusion. If you want to entertain this strategy and require high risk surgery for acute blood loss or looks like larger academic centers may still have these programs.

So if anyone out there is in need of surgery and are worried about spike protein contamination despite there being no evidence suggesting this exists, check with your regional academic centers if you wish to explore self donation.
