Yes, the thing about good propaganda is that it needs some underlying plausibility. Maybe a mistranslation of hundreds and thousands. Combined US and German losses in the Battle of the Bulge were under 200,000 with losses about equal on both sides. And that was for the full battle.

Learning about WWI, it was staggering when you realize how many men would die in battles, even in battles nobody even knows about, especially on the Russian side.

The Battle of Kursk was substantially larger than the Battle of the Bulge. Far greater numbers of battle hardened troops were involved and almost 10 times the number of tanks.

Casualties in Ukraine have always been suspiciously low. Battles in which 10,000 men are killed in a day have been routinely fought for at least 2000 years.
