How do people get away this?
Where would the average person go to buy a burner phone, and how do you even know it is a burner phone beyond the fact that the seller says it is?
The cops know what cell tower the 911 call came in on. There are surveillance cameras everywhere.
Bottom Line - swat calls and death threat calls apparently happen all the time, but almost no one ever gets arrested, except for the morons who use their own phones, or leave their real names on voice mail.
Burner phones are just pre-paid cheap cellphones. You can get them at Walmart.
I don’t think a burner is a burner for long, unless you keep it in a faraday bag, but I have a theory that even this might not work as well as one would think.
If you take your burner to work then to the store and use a credit card, or god forbid you take it home, I suspect it’s no burner anymore.
Come to think of it, if it pings a tower while you’re ringing it up, yeah, I think the Walmart cameras would catch you. Better wear a mask and ball cap!
