"Mashed Potato Time" is a 1962 single written by Brian Holland, Daniel Rey, Dee Dee King, Freddy Gorman, Georgia Dobbins, Kal Mann, Robert Bateman, William Garrett, and performed by Dee Dee Sharp, with backing vocals by The Orlons, on her debut album It's Mashed Potato Time. The song refers to the Mashed Potato dance move, which was a fad at the time. It was one of several songs that came out at that time that referenced the dance.

Jerry and Linda used to hang out at Lucy's El Adobe, a Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles. Since it had good food, I would eat there periodically. They were unabashed as to their politics, and visitors could always find plenty of Democrat fliers along with the menus. When I finished eating, I would always ask if they were related to the El Adobe in San Juan Capistrano, and they would curtly reply, "no." The one in San Juan Capistrano was Richard Nixon's favorite restaurant and they are still proud of that.
