EVs are a complete disaster to the environment which the idiots that push are trying to save.

This is the discussion I had with the Mini-dealer earlier this year. So he quoted me the price of a battery changeover, which Mini was saying their original battery would last seven years. I asked about the then replacement, and Mini was quoting this second battery (figuring 7 years for it too) would be around 1,900 Euro (figure $2,000). So I asked....if I kept this car around for 15 years, would this guaranteed price/battery 3rd pack be around. Salesman didn’t want to imagine or quote that.

The problem I see, you get into this, and the battery-pack folks quit selling pack version 1.0 and you wake up at 12 to 14 years....with a car in great mechanical shape, but no battery to fit the type. We will end up with millions of cars in good mechanical shape sitting in a junkyard because you can’t get the appropriate batteries for the model.

I’m a proud gas guzzler and home DIY’er, and plan to never go EV... That said:

Are EV batteries 12v (autos)? 24v (some boats, GA aircraft)?

What’s to prevent DIY folks from jury-rigging an old EV with a newer battery? Can car batteries be obtained reasonably from a mail order supplier?

From the web article: The dealership took the opportunity to pitch the sale of newer electric vehicles.

Let us all harken back to a paraphrase of those sage RINO words:

"Butt rape me once, shame on - shame on you. Butt rape me ... you can't get butt raped again!"

I would be curious as to the odometer reading at 12 years of age for this vehicle?
And the cost of the electricity to charge the batteries for 12 years ?

For $30k, you could rebuild the motor, tranny and rear-end of a ‘57 Chevy...a 65 year-old car.
