O’Connor sure was a disappointment - but I’m not sure it’s possible to predict how a SC Justice is going to perform. The best we have is Clarence Thomas, and he was picked by Bush Sr of all people…probably for all the wrong reasons.
As for the astrologer thing… I never paid much attention to that.. because I have something in my own life that has given me a different perspective: My wife is a practicing family MD who often hands out homeopathic “medicine”. I put it in quotes because I believe it is total BS, just like astrology.
This bothered me at first, until I realized she would NEVER substitute homeopathy when true science-based medicine or treatment was indicated. She has learned there is an emotional and nurturing side to medicine that is very real… asking the patient questions, carefully examining them, discussing the stresses of life and things as simple as diet or sleeping habits… and yes, sometimes giving them sugar pills and talking up “alternative” plant-based natural remedies.
People need to be cared for on many levels beside pharmaceutical prescriptions, and it is important to remember that modern science is not perfect, nor are modern medical institutions like Big Pharma above being mistaken, or even corrupted.
Believe it or not, even though I am a grown man and know homeopathy is just sugar pills that do nothing, I have still felt cared for at times by my wife when she gave me those pills - and sometimes it saved me from chasing down the unhealthy rabbit holes of Big Pharma, and gave me the patience to let my body heal itself naturally, through better diet and better living habits.
Your mileage may vary, but for me, the idea of RR listening to an astrologist is not disturbing at all - astrology is BS - but it is a far less harmful form of BS than the Keynesian and Marxist BS all the other politicians were listening to!
