Trump accused Cruz' father of being involved with the JFK assassination. Cruz has been able to support Trump on policy, but it is a bit much to expect Cruz to support Trump's personal attacks on Cruz' own family.

And what did Cruz’s Dad do before that? Don’t want your family attacked then don’t bring your family on stage to talk crap and lie about Trump. You can only poke and poke Trump so much. If you poke too much Trump will bite your arm off. Anyway this is ancient history. Let’s not keep on relitigating 2016.
