In my opinion, microwave ovens are only good for warming stuff up. They do not “cook” anything satisfactorily.
I agree. These people can kiss my butt.
Damn, this does piss me off. When I cook something in an oven, I do it for a purpose, to make a tasty roast with a crusty exterior, not to “save damned energy to reduce my carbon footprint”.
I don’t turn on the oven to melt butter. I don’t turn on the oven to heat a cup of water.
This makes me want to stick a un-dismantled microwave oven into their nether regions.
I dunno o- been coo,ing poached eggs in one, 1 minute and around 20 seconds, in bowl of water. I don’t taste any difference. It’s about the only thing though I’ve tried cooking in one, mostly use it just to warm up food.

Corn on the cob comes out well. Plus, since some of its moisture gets driven out, the flavor gets concentrated. You boil corn on the cob and you lose flavor into the water. Why steaming it is better. Dittos for lobster.
Agree. For those of us who love to cook & bake; an oven is a must.
“In my opinion, microwave ovens are only good for warming stuff up. They do not “cook” anything satisfactorily.”
100% correct ... great for thawing out too, though that’s a form of “warming up” ...
I hide my microwave, it will never be featured in my kitchen.
I will hang on to my beautiful oven until they pry my cold dead hands from the red knob. LOL
At 92 I still cook every day. I like good food.
Agreed, they are good for leftovers and frozen foods. For fresh foods the microwave destroys both texture and flavor.
This article is just another mindless leftist attempt to get us to go all electric, while they keep shutting down power generating plants.

Amen.
We have a woodstove that I can use to cooking to a degree.
I start something on the stovetop and then transfer it to simmer on top of the wood stove. It’s also great for the tea kettle to boil water for tea.

They are very well insulated and do not radiate a lot of heat and since the food is pressure cooked, cooking time is very much reduced.
Fresh vegetables cooked in the microwave are the best. They are steamed, not boiled. Retain more vitamins.
Also the microwave is great for melting and thawing foods fast.
If you want a nice, browned anything forget it. I want most, if not all, of my foods to crunch: burgers, desserts, breads, etc.

We cook baked potatoes in the microwave before finishing them in the air fryer.
Broccoli in the microwave works.
Agree never saw anyone cook a pot roast in one.
If you want a single serving of mashed potatoes, microwaves are great. Scrub a potato. Peel if you want, although if the skin is thin enough it works to leave it on. Microwave in 2-3 minute increments, turning each time, until the potato is tender all the way through. Then add butter, salt, and milk, and smoosh it with a fork. For an “instant” gravy, top it with cream-of-something soup, and pop it back in the microwave for 2 minutes.
But, I do agree that the majority of foods taste better cooked in the oven or on the stove.
Agree, nothing cooks well in my microwave. Only bought the thing to heat up a microwave=only eye mask needed for my eye condition. I can heat water for instant coffee too, which I sometimes drink. Very nice brand at Trader Joe with a red jar top is OK.

My mother started using the microwave to roast the Thanksgiving turkey back in the 80’s. She was skeptical at first, but they always came out as good or better than in the oven.
