Sadly these things happen, and are frequently avoidable. I chuckle about the surprise at ice in at the GC. I've been down the corridor trails about a half dozen times always in late winter/early spring. Always snow though it's mud on the trails. Good trout fishing in Bright Angel Creek as well.
