See post 30. Oh, and Tahoma Clinic takes no Medicare or Insurance...for obvious reasons.
What most of the docs are doing who want to get out of the “industrial medical complex” control/rat race is to go to Direct Primary Care (DPC) - no insurance accepted .... that gets them out of the system and medical care is between patient & doctor, the way it should be.
One example - a patient came in to see a DPC doc, was working on reversing her T2D. She was limping badly, so he asked her about it. She had been trying to get an MRI for months ... insurance issues. He asked her if she could spend $300 - if she could, he could get her an MRI for that amount that very day & that is what she did.
I had to have surgery due to an injury back in March. I self-payed. The Ortho told me if I could afford to do it, that was absolutely the way to go because that meant I was in total control of my medical care AND he could give me options. He was very respectful of the fact that I was paying - made some suggestions to keep costs down - those ‘options’ he mentioned. Additionally, I was being given 40% discounts - ER, doctor’s charge for surgery, PT, office visits. DPC would suit me just fine.
