I know three pilots. One was a bit cranky, but he had an eye for detail and brooked no nonsense. Made great moneyt flying into East Germany. I would trust him with a plane filled with 200 people any time. Ironically he died at 90 after falling off his bicycle in 95 degree weather in rural Connecticut.
Another one is extremely mild and helps me with the coffee and doughnuts after church. Really nice guy.
The third one is my best man's brother and my former classmate on college. Very mild and calm, but smart.
I wouldn't pigeonhole pilots.

What? Who the hell have you been talking to? The few bitchers I met in my 30+ year career stand out like sore thumbs. At 77 - and almost 18 years retired - I still remember them vividly. To wit:
1/ The Divine Wind (jerk DC-8 captain -1977)
2/ Neil H. (winer 737 copilot - 1990s)
3/ Marvin (Also 1990s. well, that’s what we called her - see Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy)
Can you guess that they all had “special” employment status?
(Retired 767 captain here.)
