I wonder how many Afghans who fought alongside the US were tortured and executed. Probably their families too, brothers, sisters, children, nieces, nephews just so Brandon could do a victory lap on September 11.
Going back to square one is not a victory lap.
The whole thing is sad. Nothing sadder than the complete fiasco, incompetence and unnecessary deaths of 13 Americans because this admin doesn’t have a clue.
However, let’s not also forget that the Taliban wasn’t exactly fighting its way back for control of the country. The ANA and ANP were laying down their arms and/or joining the Taliban as they took control of one province after another.
Pres Trump, like Bush and Soetero before him, was told that the ANA/ANP were trained, ready, willing, and able to protect Afghanistan. Ok. So why are we still paying them? They can pay themselves and we no longer have to see billions stolen and wasted on roads that were never built.
Its movements across the country were so fast that “Allie’s”’like Dostum, dropped their stuff and ran.
Billions in American equipment? Or was it all the gear the US gave them over the span of 20 years? When a soldier or Marine leaves a place like Afghanistan or Iraq, they bring the weapon they were assigned back home with them.
