Johnny Mathis is 86 yrs. old and still touring. Listen to "Chances Are" = great lyrics, melody and voice.
The Stones' stuff up until Sticky Fingers was truly classic. The Who's early stuff...the Byrds...the Beatles, etc, etc were as well. But seeing any of them perform today? No thanks!
There's a BBC comedy show from about 20 years ago called "Harry & Paul". It's bloody hilarious. One of their running gags is the Beatles in their 70's...still touring and making albums. Hysterical!
Good friend of the Reagans IIRC.
Wonderful, wonderful!
My folks still get “misty” when they hear his Twelfth of Never.
WHEW! For a moment I thought something actually happened to him!
The title of this thread didn’t give any hint!
I’ve always wondered, why did he never get married?
Thank you 😌
My folks enjoyed a very wide variety of music, and had all of his albums. Sitting atop the stand where they kept the LPs - was a small bust of Beethoven.
I could not decide who I thought was more handsome, laughs, but definitely was drawn by Ludwig’s intensity.
Something fairly recent.

Tatt
Yes. We bought that when it was on special next to the checkout stand in the early 70s. Iirc he did a beautiful Oh Holy Night.
Elton John winks
Yes he is, but he never made a big deal out of it.
Every song on that Christmas album is exceptional. If I had to pick a fav: Greensleeves.
Johnny came out as gay in the late 1990s. He got such an ugly reaction from a few fans, that he has never brought the topic up since then.
My favorite too...
You ask how much I need you, must I explain?
I need you, oh my darling, like roses need rain.
You ask how long I’ll love you; I’ll tell you true:
Until the twelfth of never, I’ll still be loving you.
Hold me close, never let me go.
Hold me close, melt my heart like April snow.
I’ll love you till the bluebells forget to bloom;
I’ll love you till the clover has lost its perfume.
I’ll love you till the poets run out of rhyme,
Until the twelfth of never and that’s a long, long time.
JM just did a big concert at Foxwoods Casino, not far from us. There were billboards all over the place announcing his upcoming date there. If we weren't so darn busy downsizing / moving these days, we might've gone to see him.
