How do you get two counts of murder when only one person died?
The American Jesters System is magic, that way.
Wait'll you see the magic that Gauleiter Garland's "Deportment of Jesters" uses to indict Trump, his family and everyone he knew from his childhood up to the present.
They'll even dig up Ivana, and indict her like the Brits did with Oliver Cromwell.
That is odd with the two counts of murder.
Maybe one for the original supposed strangulation, and then another for the hanging?? (I don’t see how that would make sense though).
If I was the defense attorney I would point out in the evidence photos of the house all of the various extension cords, ropes, etc. and ask the jury to wonder why a MAN would use something like a phone charging cable rather than a good sturdy rope?
OTOH, I’ve read where most women kill themselves from an overdose as hanging is deemed to violent. I can’t imagine trying to hang myself - must be a slow death, especially with a phone cord.

Not sure if it applies here but in some states if you kill a pregnant woman you get charged with 2 counts of murder rather than 1.
I don't know. Derek Chauvin was convicted of two counts of murder and one of manslaughter for the death of George Floyd, and I have not seen an explanation of how the prosecutors were able to bring all of those charges for a single death. Perhaps someone knowledgeable in criminal law will be able to explain it.
