I have yet to understand the rationale behind using debit cards. A credit card offers much more protection, and you don’t have to worry about overdrafts, or worse yet, your account being cleaned out. I know someone who had their checking account cleaned out. He uses credit cards now.
I have never really understood debt cards either.
I “think” they are for people who don’t trust themselves enough to use a credit card responsibly *shrug*
I get 1000’s of dollars in cash back rewards a year from using my credit card. I think debt card people are nuts personally.
A person at my bank noticed a high balance in my checking account because I was moving money around and said, “That’s dangerous if someone gets your debit card! I said, “That’s why I don’t have a debit card.” She just looked at me, like “Huh”.
I use debit because I want it paid right away. My credit union has contacted me about suspicious payments and refused to release the money until I let them know if it was me or not.
When someone did commit fraud on me, I had no problem getting my money back.
Every time I tried to get the cash back program with my credit card, I have yet to see a dime.
