The high flying marketing types tend to go for the latest “thing”—and sound persuasive—and then when it crashes and burns in the real world they get fired and move on to their next corporate mark.
Since they are skilled liars they are great at interviews for new employment—and of course their resume cites brilliant success after brilliant success.

Excellent observation. I saw a lot of that as a public high school teacher. The Board of Education would bring in flashy outside consultants who would push nonsensical “modern” curricula. Student scores would go down, and a few teachers would get fired (sacrificed).
Old consultants would then be replaced by new consultants. Rinse and repeat.
