Actual social distancing for 100% contagion avoidance is really 38 feet. But people wouldn’t have stood for it so they compromised at 6 ft.
Early on I recall reading that 15 ft was closer to the safe distance. But somehow they decided 6 was good enough. (That seemed to have come from 100-year old information.)
