But I can't understand ordinary people lapping up NPR's rancid diarrhea. I knew one guy who was quite ordinary. He had a PhD in some sort of biological science - plant taxonomy I think and he felt superior to everyone and his daily dose of NPR reenforced this feeling because after all he listens to NPR However, he was a perpetual academic hanger on getting the lowest of academic jobs. I hired him because he could program FOTRAN which he did for a while and made about three timmes what he was usually getting. Nevertheless he quit after a few years because he didn't get enough time off.
