You raise a very important point: money. A female college swimmer who loses to a man is just out a trophy (and that’s bad enough).
But female LPGA pro who loses to a man is out thousands of dollars. And without that money she perhaps cannot continue on the tour.
As Arte Johnson would say, that makes things verrry interesting.
It’s not just the players that are out money.
LPGA is a business. They cannot afford to have fans walk away from the sport—that’s money out of their pocket.
As someone mentioned, they worked hard to overcome the idea that their players were all gay (a lesson the WNBA could learn) because it was costing them paying fans.
Personally, I think they should invoke a no penis rule. Nobody with a penis (including a residual stump) is allowed in the LPGA.
