The language is evolving or devolving according to your point of view. In my opinion the growing use of text messaging and social media [like Free Republic] is exacerbating the effect.

I like writing with fountain pens. I make an effort at correct grammar and try to keep my cursive writing legible if not attractive. Having said that, I don’t know anyone who uses ink on paper for regular communication or, for that matter, who takes grammar that seriously.
